Eline Boerma (Culemborg, NL, 1999) graduated from the Utrecht School of the Arts in 2022 and now lives and works in Rotterdam. Boerma ́s paintings offer the artist ́s reflections on nature, the body, freedom and materiality. Thus, it stems from memories of landscapes, but it is even more about the research in itself, really about painting. It is more something that emerges on the canvas, mark-making, than something it depicts. Intuition, frustration and impulse all play a role, but looking is also very important in the process. Attention and concentration is paid to the nature of each paint stroke, its impulse, speed and direction. It is the constant search that forces her to keep working, much more than finding a neat solution. The risk of failure is always there and it is also necessary. However, it is also about letting go and allowing, allowing the paintings to emerge naturally within the adventure of painting.
