Assembling is the keyword to describe the works of contemporary and multi-disciplinary artist David Bade. In his work additions are important. If it is people, materials, stuff or subjects, Bade keeps adding more. Artist David Bade creates figurative and contemporary artworks; drawings, paintings, sculptures, and (outdoor) installations. He also gives community art workshops with lots of audience engagement. A multitude of objects, materials, and techniques find a place within the installations and sculptures. From sofa’s to old clocks, from styrofoam to wood to plastic and from rubber to dried plants. Bade’s work is full of contradictions. It is colorful, chaotic and funny, it criticizes, challenges and mocks. In his second hometown, Curaçao, he founded in 2006 (together with artist Tirzo Martha) the Instituto Bueno Bista (IBB), an art education program for young talents. It is at the edge of a mental health hospital and there is a mix of inspiration between the students, guest-teachers, and patients. David Bade is also involved in the project ‘All you can Art’. This long-standing collaboration from 2015 with Kunsthal Rotterdam and is focussed on meeting and exchange.
